Yugoslavian Zastava M76 Rifles
Yugoslavian Zastava M76 rifles are now available. Developed by the Crvena Zastava factory in the mid-1970’s and produced in large quantities. It fulfilled the same role as the Soviet SVD Dragunov and Romanian PSL and looks rather similar, although its design is different. The M76 is best classified as a designated marksman rifle rather than a sniper rifle. The M76 rifle saw extensive combat during the Yugoslav wars of the 1990’s as Yugoslavia collapsed into the different states and was used by all sides.
The Yugoslavian Zastava M76 rifle has a reputation of a reliable and capable weapon. However there is a known issue with the magazines of the M76 being unreliable. Due to the bolt hold open property of the magazines, the bolt will slam forward when the magazine is removed, putting considerable pressure on the follower. This can result in the follower being jammed in the forward position, rendering the magazine temporarily inoperable.
Although semi-auto, the Yugoslavian Zastava M76 rifles are not importable into the US as-is since they are built on an AK based receiver and thus must be made into M76 parts kits where the receiver is torch cut into 3 separate pieces as well as the barrel.
