The Yugoslavian M49 and later M49/57 upgrade is a clone of the Soviet Russian PPSH-41 sub-machine gun externally but differs from it internally and in method of construction. The M49/57 was made of milled construction. Internally the M49/57 is more similar to the Beretta M38 sub-machine gun, especially its recoil spring. The Yugoslavian M49/57 SMG and Soviet PPSH-41 can interchange magazines.
