Romanian PKM Machine Gun Model 66
Romanian PKM Model 66
The PKM is a general-purpose machine gun designed in the USSR chambered in 7.62x54R, introduced in the 1960’s, produced and used to these days by militaries around the world. Used mainly by infantry and as a vehicle-mounted weapon used against soft targets and light anti-aircraft. Most are belt-fed, using linked 25 round belts. These 25-round belts can be linked to any length necessary. Typical of Soviet machine guns, the standard model feeds from the right and ejects its spent cases via an ejection port on the left side of the weapon, contrary to the right side ejection port seen in most Western machine guns. Many Soviet block countries have manufactured their own version, like many other Soviet weapons, mainly the Yugoslavian Zastava M84 PKM, Chinese Norinco Type 80, Bulgarian Arsenal MG-M1, Hungarian KGK PKM, and these Romanian Cugir Mitraliera Model 66.
These Romanian military surplus PKM machine guns are available for sale in generally good to very good condition with bipods and ammo boxes. They can be available as PKM parts kits for import into the US civilian market.
