In the 1960’s Yugoslavia experimented with new bullet designed to cause increased wounding capabilities, accuracy and speed to the then existing M43 round that was in use. This was done mainly due to taking out the mild steel insert. This has the side effect of shifting the center of gravity rearward in comparison to the M43 and allows the projectile to destabilize nearly 17 cm (6.7 in) earlier in tissue.
